Description
This course teaches the essential skills needed to deal with emergency situations, particularly in the workplace. It focuses on responding to life-threatening incidents as well as recognising and managing common medical conditions that may occur at work.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of a First Aider
  • Manage an emergency situation
  • Provide first aid to an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
  • Perform CPR
  • Assist someone who is choking
  • Manage a wounded or bleeding casualty
  • Provide first aid for shock
  • Treat minor injuries including:
    • Small cuts, grazes and bruises
    • Minor burns and scalds
    • Small splinters

Prerequisites
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn emergency first aid and is particularly designed for nominated first aiders in smaller, low-risk workplaces.

Qualification
