Description
This course teaches the essential skills needed to deal with emergency situations, particularly in the workplace. It focuses on responding to life-threatening incidents as well as recognising and managing common medical conditions that may occur at work.
Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of a First Aider
- Manage an emergency situation
- Provide first aid to an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
- Perform CPR
- Assist someone who is choking
- Manage a wounded or bleeding casualty
- Provide first aid for shock
- Treat minor injuries including:
- Small cuts, grazes and bruises
- Minor burns and scalds
- Small splinters
Prerequisites
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn emergency first aid and is particularly designed for nominated first aiders in smaller, low-risk workplaces.

Qualification
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion valid for three years.
